Something to learn from Kameni “When I wanted to start music, I understood I had to be different. I’m a sexy woman. I can be sexy in my normal day life. But, Daphne, Mimie, Blanche Bailly… are already sexy.
“I had to do something different”(Watch video).
She said this during a music conversation organised by Boiler and Ballentine’s.
What can you learn from this ?
As a potential artiste or an upcoming one, when you wish to do music, you just don’t have to be excited about being a “star”. You have to look at the market. Identify a problem to come solve. Identify your target. You cannot be successful if you don’t know or identify your target properly.
Does that make sense ? If Makossa has “died” as people claim, imagine you mixing makossa with a bit of new vibe, something that doesn’t exist. Don’t you think it will make sense ? You are different and suiting a particular market. Lots of older people still love Makossa.
Why will you do regular Afro pop love songs like LOCKO and expect sudden shine? Why should people leave LOCKO for you? You should be different. You should have your own touch. Or!! You’ll need a lot of marketing to convince people you are better. With the financial nature of the industry, will you cope?? I’m happy KAMENI taught people this!!
