Lots of people were in dismay by the shocking discovery of three human heads in the refrigerator of footballer and sports commentator, Richard Gyamfi. The gruesome discovery was made when officers from Bono Regional Police Command arrived.
The police arrested Gyamfi and another suspect. Gyamfi was arrested same weekend when the father of one of his victims, a 15-year-old boy, declared his son missing. It was later discovered that Gyafi had welcomed the boy, Louis Agyemang Junior, in his house, where he killed him. He then kept the severed head in the refrigerator, along with two other heads.
What led to the search of Gyamfi’s house was a report from Agyemang friend who said he last saw the missing boy with Gyamfi in the Sunyani Abesim football park. Gyamfi looked suspicious when he denied seeing the boy. He aroused further suspicion when he said the keys to his house were missing. The search team forced their way and broke into the house.
Once inside the house, security forces found Agyemang’s remains on the ground. The head had been cut off and kept in the refrigerator. They found two more wrapped heads in the footballer’s fridge.
The footballer had an irreproachable behaviour
Richard Gyamfi, 28, is now charged not only with the murder of Agyemang, 15, but also with the murder of a 12-year-old. His third victim has not yet been identified.
Gyamfi, who is said to be a Bible reader, and a second suspect was sent to contribute to the police investigation, Ghana Police Service director of public affairs Alexander Kwaku Obeng said.
“The remains are being transferred to the Ghana Police Service Hospital morgue in Accra for forensic analysis to be performed to support the investigation,” he told MyJoyOnline.
He revealed that clinical psychologists and counselors were also deployed to support and counsel those involved in the murder, including families, some community members and the police who conducted the research.
This incident brings a new light to the question of ritual crimes of public figures, aimed at greater fame and fame.
